Formerly known as the Federal District, Mexico City (CDMX) represents the largest urban cluster in Mexico, as well as the main political, academic, financial, business, communication, entertainment, cultural and fashion center, in addition to being the capital of the country.
Located in the Valley of Mexico, at a little more than 2,000 m of altitude, its population already exceeds 9 million people, and when the metropolitan area of the Valley of Mexico is considered, said population amounts to almost 22 million inhabitants, thus becoming the largest urban agglomeration in the American continent, and the ninth in the world.
So if we talk about recording a professional video in Mexico, it is difficult to choose only five places that would work perfectly as a location whatever the focus you are looking for (documentary, institutional, commercial, etc.), however we made our selection and we present it to you below :
National Museum of Anthropology (MNA)
When it comes to learning about pre-Hispanic cultures, visiting this museum, considered the largest in Latin America, is definitely a must. Although its collection includes archaeological and ethnographic works of the country, its importance also lies in its design and planning, unique in the history of modern architecture in Mexico. The rooms, for example, contemplate differentiated heights in the ceilings; three and a half meters in the background section and almost double in the areas where great cultural achievements are exhibited.
Palace of Fine Arts
The magic of this place not only lies in the beauty of its architecture, but in its collection that already houses 17 murals by national artists such as Diego Rivera, José Clemente Orozco, David Alfaro Siqueiros, among others, which were made between 1928 and 1963, all of great historical value. In addition, it houses the Museum of the Palace of Fine Arts, which in turn has three rooms that have allowed us to enjoy very important international exhibitions, as well as operas, chamber music and plays. Angel of Independence
Although most know it as «El Ángel», its official name is «Monument to Independence», and before becoming a meeting point for important social gatherings, it is a mausoleum made up of a stepped plinth, a quarry column that It is 35 m high, and to top it off, the statue of the Winged Victory. It also has a small 360 viewpoint to which you can go up with a special and free permit granted by the Cuauhtémoc Delegation. Frida Kahlo Museum. Blue house
Due to its historical and artistic value, this particular museum is one of the most emblematic places in Coyoacán, south of Mexico City. It is the house where the renowned Mexican artist Frida Kahlo was born, lived and died. Here you not only get some of her most famous works of hers, but with items of her personal use such as dresses, newspapers, mirrors, her bed, and even her ashes. Diego Rivera also lived in the Casa Azul and it was he who requested that the place be converted into a museum after the death of both.
Xochimilco Ecological Park
In the Nahuatl language «Xochimilco» means «place of the fertile land of flowers», and to be honest, they could not guess more at the name, because south of Mexico City, it remains as a trace of what was Tenochtitlan, with its canals and chinampas, and its green terrain full of vegetation and fresh air. Currently it is one of the main tourist destinations and when you go yes or yes you have to get on a trajinera to enjoy the tour while you delight in the iconic dishes of the region such as gorditas, elotes, esquites, quesadillas, pambazos and of course, tacos. It should be noted that this area was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1987.
